PNX is crafted as our “Cab lover’s” Pinot Noir, intended to be a bit louder and bolder than our other Pinots. A series of wildfires in early October 2017 made international headlines, but the early harvest ensured that most of our grapes were picked and already processed in the cellar before the fires began.

On the palate the wine is intensely expressive, brimming with juicy cherries, big-boned but also underpinned by bright acidity; lush and full but not over-extracted.

True to form, cherry cobbler, cinnamon, and ripe, rich plum jam leap from the glass.

ABV 14.5%

Vintage 2017

Appellation Carneros, Napa Valley

Varietal Composition 100% Pinot Noir

A notoriously challenging variety, Pinot Noir prefers the foggy, wind-swept slopes of the Carneros region, in southern Napa Valley. The climate here helps to retain the aromatic complexity and bright acidity of the grape as flavor development advances. The renowned Rancho Carneros Vineyard is home to 45 year-old, head-trained, dry-farmed vines that bring depth and complexity to the blend.  Vines in the southernmost section of the vineyard, planted in 2005, contribute weight, richness and darker fruit tones.  This year’s blend is a combination of the two sections.
