2015 Sea Smoke 'Southing' Pinot Noir

THEN:

This vintage of the Southing had aromas of dark fruit, such as Blackberry and plum skin, as well as some baking spice and fresh florals of violet and lilac. Its fine tannins and minerality were enhanced by our estate vineyard’s characteristic cool climate acidity.

NOW:

Since its release, this wine has revealed itself to be the product of the drought conditions of 2015. It has evolved complex meaty, gravy, and stewed red fruit notes with fair intensity and interest. The drought characteristics come through with notes of chaparral, dried herbs, intense spice, and very strong tannins. Watch it soften over the next ten years.
